Admission to M.A. in Leadership in Diversity and Inclusion


Application Deadline

Applications are accepted for fall, spring, and summer semesters. Applicants are responsible for ensuring all materials arrive by the appropriate deadline. Applications are due by 11:59 PM on the following dates:

  • Spring 2025: December 16, 2024
  • Summer 2025: May 1, 2025
  • Fall 2025:
    • Priority Deadline - March 3, 2025
    • Final Deadline - August 1, 2025

The following application materials are required for all applicants:

Complete the online application available at KU's Graduate Studies website and submit it. The application fee can be paid online as the last step of the application.  Application forms submitted without a fee cannot be processed.

Application Fees:

  • Domestic Application: $65.00
  • Degree Seeking International Application $85.00
  • Non Degree Seeking Application (Domestic and International) $30.00
  • Reenrollment Application $20.00

Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA in their previous academic work to be admitted to regular graduate student status. Applicants should provide a copy of an official transcript from all colleges and universities attended. Upload a copy of each transcript to your application. If admitted, you’ll also need to send an official copy of all transcripts to Graduate Admissions. It can take three weeks for transcripts to arrive.

Your statement of purpose should address each of the prompts below. The statement should be a maximum of two pages, single spaced.

  • What has sparked your interest in furthering your education in leadership, diversity, and inclusion?
  • How do the programs intersecting foci of leadership, diversity and inclusion advance your academic and professional goals?
  • What do you hope to achieve during your time in the program?

Your writing sample should be argumentative in content and structure. It should be at least 5 pages in length and come from a junior or senior level course. If you are currently in one of the graduate certificate programs associated with this MA program, your writing sample should come from one of your certificate courses. If you do not have a recent writing sample from a course, you may create one that meets the criteria listed here.

You must provide three letters of recommendation from people familiar with your work. At least two of these recommendations should be academic in nature. If you are currently in one of the certificate programs associated with this MA program, you should use at least one of your instructors from your graduate-level coursework. During the application process, you will be asked to enter the email addresses of your three recommenders, who will then submit their completed letters with accompanying forms online. You may submit your application before your references have submitted their materials.

Self-identified non-native speakers of English must meet English proficiency requirements

Provisional Admission

Student with GPAs below 3.0 or who have been out of school for an exceptional length of time may be required as a condition of their admission to take an additional course to ensure their academic preparation and success.
